This course has been designed for professional actors and students interested in joining the profession.
Camera technique classes are designed to help actors, not only produce the truth of their character and deep inner emotions required for camera, but also, to familiarise actors with the mechanics required for acting on screen, instilling in them the huge differences in learning a script and preparing a character for television or film as opposed to stage.
For example, the need to perform a scene identically physically (movement-wise) in order to allow for editing; and the concentration needed to perform this task, when a two to five minute scene may take ten to sixteen hours to film - requiring, perhaps, nine different camera set-ups and three to five takes for each one.
Also, throughout the course, the actors will have masterclasses with professional working Directors, Writers, Camera Operators, Sound Assistants and Technical Crew in order to understand, not only the role of each member of a film crew, but also what that crew member expects from a professional actor.
Instilling in the actor the understanding of the size of crew required in order to make a programme and, in turn, the cost of producing it, therefore only emphasising the fact that at all times they must be focused, concentrated and able to produce the required performance immediately when called upon to do so.
This is an on-going course based on the American idea that actors must continue to learn, grow and experiment in classes throughout their career thus producing more and more subtle and believable performances each time they work in the profession.
