Danny Cunningham
Students from Penarth based Ferris Entertainment Performing Arts were treated to a visit by actor Danny Cuningham in a break from filming "Casualty" for the BBC in Bristol.
Danny who trained at "Italia Conti" in London along with screen acting teacher Peter Ferris and Dance teacher Doug Yolland, talked to students about creating and acting the role of "Sean Rider" of the "Happy Mondays" in the feature film "24 hour Party People" which he starred in alongside "Steve Coogan" and which the students watched scenes from.
Danny also advised the younger students on the requirements for appearing in a "Kids TV series" as he had appeared in "Grange Hill" for a year, and talked to the older students about working in a Soap, Danny starred in Coronation Street for a year, and other such long running dramas such as "Soldier Soldier" where he took over from Robson and Jerome.
Danny also talked of his experiences walking up the red carpet at the Palais de Festival in Cannes when 24 Hour Party People was honoured with the prestigious Saturday Night screening when it was in competion for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
"Danny was an inspiration to the actors" said Peter Ferris. "I have wanted Danny to talk to the students for ages but it was difficult as he has just finished filming three projects in a row. "Blue Murder", a film"Hammerhead" and "Casualty". He rang to say he was filming in Bristol and had Saturday afternoon free, so, as soon as he had finished filming for the day he jumped on a train and came in to chat to my actors."
